Accelerated Math Program

This program will enable students to receive the ultimate preparation in math while enrolled in FCS. The math course sequence would be as follows:

o 7th Grade PreAlgebra
o 8th Grade Algebra I
o 9th Grade Honors Geometry
o 10th Grade Honors Algebra II
o 11th Grade Honors Precalculus
o 12th Grade AP Calculus

The same minimum averages apply in the Accelerated Math program as in other "Honors" courses. The criteria used to enroll a student in the program as a 7th grader are:
o Teacher recommendations
o Overall GPA no less than 3.00
o Grades in math during 5th and 6th grades of A or B
o Above average Stanford Achievement Test scores

Parents need to be aware that if they choose this route, that their child must take AP Calculus during the senior year. Having a grade of an F, D, or C (without teacher recommendation to move forward) would cause the student to repeat the math class the following year and loose the honor track option.
