Basketball Season Has Begun! Go Falcons!

The Falcon basketball teams took to the court for the first time last evening as they began the 2013-14 season. Our middle school teams traveled to Henderson, while the JV boys and Varsity boys and girls played at home.

The JV boys team, under the leadership of new head coach Jonathan Turner, earned their first victory of the season in a close game against Crossroads Christian.

After a slow start in the first quarter, the Varsity Lady Falcons, led by head coach Andy Murr, came alive to outscore Crossroads 20-5 in the second half for their first win of the season.

The last game of the evening featured the Varsity boys under the direction of new head coach Jamal Abbott. The boys came out and jumped to an early lead and finished the half leading with a score of 26-22. Crossroads finally took the lead in the 4th quarter and held it. The Varsity boys lost 53-46 but did very well in their first game showing great promise for the rest of the season.

Coach McClain led the Middle School Ladies Falcons in their first game.  7 of the 10 girls on the team have not played organized basketball before, but that didn’t stop them from playing with determination and giving their best. Although they lost, our girls scored 20 points and showed that while they may not be experienced, they will be giving 100% every game.

Our Middle School boys, under the direction of Coach Clark, also worked hard in their season opener. They showed their determination as they fell behind in the first half but were able to come back within 11 points at the end of the game.

Our cheerleaders and fans did a tremendous job cheering for our teams! Thank you to all who came out to support the Falcons!
