Giving God the Glory!

Last Friday night, our middle school girls basketball team experienced two great victories.  After finding themselves down 9-0, the Lady Falcons battled back to tie the game and send it into overtime.  At the end of the second overtime period, with just seconds left, 7th grader Jessica Peterson stole the ball, drove the court, and hit the game winning jump shot to seal a thrilling, hard fought victory.  As exciting as it was, this was the lesser of the two victories.  Near the end of regulation, during a team timeout, Jessica looked at her teammates and said, “Win or lose, we praise God!”  This was the greater victory!  At Friendship, nothing gives our coaches more joy than to see one of our student athletes take the lead in understanding and teaching that our love for God must be greater than our love of sports and our desire for victory.  Win or lose, may God get the glory!
