Alumna Publishes Book

Congratulations to FCS alumna S.E.M. Ishida on the publication of her first book, Nick Newton Is Not a Genius.

Sarah graduated from FCS in 2008, and then went on to earn a BA in humanities from Bob Jones University in 2012. She is currently pursuing an MS in technical communication at North Carolina State University and works at a large technology company in the Triangle area. She’s a member of Open Door Church. In addition to writing, her hobbies include reading and collecting toys.

When asked about the inspiration for her book, Sarah wrote, “I’ve enjoyed writing ever since elementary school, but this idea didn’t occur to me until after my undergraduate work. The world already has so many stories about child geniuses or children with fantastic abilities. We needed a story for the rest of us. I’m not a genius, either, but that doesn’t mean I can’t go on my own adventures or have a meaningful life. As a “normal” kid in a family full of geniuses, Nick exemplifies that you don’t need to be marked as “special” to truly be special and have an impact on the people and world around you.”

Sarah’s book is available from the publisher as well as from Amazon.
