Created for Glory

October 11, 2024

Yesterday, I watched an interview on an Instagram reel. The gist of it was a guy doing a podcast asking another man, “You believe that God created everything including you?” and “You like women, right?”  “So, if a man is attracted to other men, and God created him, didn’t God give him that attraction?”

The man’s responded with something similar to: “Your base assumption is wrong.  You are assuming the way we are born with the desires we are born with is the way God intended us to be.  We are born with a natural bent to seek revenge.  Also, I was born with the natural desire to have sexual relationships with as many beautiful women as I have the opportunity to and to do whatever I can to make those opportunities happen.   God’s intent is for me to forgive not to seek revenge…God’s intent is for me to commit my heart and life to one woman faithfully for my life instead of pursuing multiple, empty relationships…” (Again, not an exact quote; I failed to save the reel.)

Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. Isaiah 43-7

We are born apart from God’s intent because of sin, and God’s work in this life through His Word is to redeem us back to His intent.

When we operate on feelings, assuming that what we feel is “how we were made to be,” we end up on a path toward destruction.

As I have had to deal with students and my own children as they have expressed their feelings, I usually ask them to consider “Is that a feelings statement or a truth statement?” with the aim of helping them realize that our feelings are not truth, God’s word/will is truth.

Feelings say “Live your best life now” and “You deserve to be happy.” Truth says “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” and “Whosoever loses his life for my sake, shall find it.”

Galatians 6:8 “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”  This one of the immutable laws of God’s world.

Isaiah 43:7 “Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.”

God intends for us to be holy as He is holy.  Only the blood of Jesus and indwelling work of the Holy Spirit can redeem us to our intended purpose.

How we feel about it has very little to do with anything.

Let’s commit to teaching our children this most important lesson of all so they can avoid being swept up in the hurricane of humanistic worldview that is wreaking havoc in the world.
