Events & Competitions
From preschool (TK4) through 12th grade, our award-winning Fine Arts program guides students toward excellence, teamwork, and honoring God with their creative gifts. Through concerts, art showcases, and fine arts clinics and competitions, students learn collaboration, discipline, and cheering on their peers — all for God's glory.
Elementary Competitions
Each spring, upper-grade elementary students (3rd-6th grade) compete in the NCCSA Fine Arts Competition in a variety of categories:
- Music (vocal and instrumental) — Choir, band, large ensembles, small ensembles, solos, and duets

Concerts & Art Showcases

Three annual events bring together the entire school honoring God through a celebration of the arts.
The Christmas Concert & Art Show helps kick off the Christmas season celebrating Jesus's birth. The evening features FCS bands (5th grade, middle school, and high school), the Focus Learning Center bell choir, choirs from all grade levels, and the select Jubilation Choir (4th-5th grades), plus narrative pieces from our speech students.
The can't-miss spring events include the Elementary Showcase and Secondary Spring Concert & Art Walk. Our TK4-5th graders highlight what they've learned throughout the year, plus some lively choir and band pieces fit for the season. Artwork reflecting the theme makes the hallways come alive. That evening, the upper school students present a casual evening of music featuring competition selections from the choirs, bands, ensembles, and solos in a unique format. Focus Learning Center students provide refreshments from their Friendly Java Cafe.

Families get a glimpse of what happens inside the classrooms during the annual Elementary Showcase, as TK4-5th grade students share their smarts and musical skills.

FCS music students perform community concerts, including Christmas at the NC State Capitol (a favorite with incredible acoustics!), nursing homes, churches, and other venues.
