Arts

Through the arts, FCS students of all ages have opportunities to use their God-given talents to worship the Lord, develop discipline, build community, and create a foundation for future service in the church and life. Classroom instruction, concerts, art showcases, and competitions help students pursue excellence while honoring our Creator.

Elementary

From TK4 through 5th grade, elementary students have dedicated art and music instruction. They highlight their talents during an annual Christmas concert, the National Anthem at select sporting events, and a spring showcase. All elementary students make up our elementary choirs, and all 5th grade students take beginner band as an introduction to playing an instrument. Additionally, Jubilation Choir is an audition-based 3rd-5th grade singing group. Students may also sign up for private music lessons for piano, instrumental, and voice.

Competitions

Each spring, upper-grade elementary students can compete in the NCCSA Fine Arts competition in music (vocal and instrumental), art, poetry, Bible sword drills, academic testing, and a spelling bee.

Secondary

The middle school and high school (6th-12th grades) each feature a band and choir that participate in annual concerts and competitions. Students may choose band, choir, art, and/or speech as an elective. Additionally, high school students may also choose yearbook as a fine arts elective.

Concerts

The bands and choirs present a Christmas concert and a lively Spring Concert & Art Walk, both annual favorites. Plus, our music students offer community concerts at the NC State Capitol, nursing homes, area churches, and other venues.

All-State and Competitions

Each fall 7th-12th graders have the opportunity to participate in the NCCSA All-State Honor Band and Choir Clinic. Students rehearse at Wake Christian and Hilltop Christian and perform a concert at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest. Top clinicians are brought in from across the country to instruct the students.

Each spring, middle and high school students can compete in the NCCSA Fine Arts competition in music (vocal and instrumental), art, poetry, and academic testing.
