Falcons Compete in BJU Tournament

The boys soccer team traveled to BJU to compete in the first Annual High School Invitational Tournament. The experience gave the players an opportunity to attend college seminars that included topics such as the college experience and covered basic application and financial questions. The team was also able to attend both a men’s and women’s college soccer game during the weekend.
The team won their Friday night game 2-1 vs Northside Christian School, Charleston, SC. Will Moy and Andrew Peterson tallied the goals with Dillon Hughes and Tyler Nelson providng the assists. The defense played very well, not allowing NCS to register a shot in the second half.
The boys lost 5-0 on Saturday morning to Harford Christian School, MD. The team just did not have the pop in their game to stand up to an early scoring barrage from HCS.
Congratulations to Andrew and Tyler who were selected by other coaches and the tournament committee as All-Tournament players.
“Overall, I was satisfied with the experience. I felt the boys played hard and continue to show improvement in different aspects of our game,” Coach Ric Nelson states. “The very long week just seemed to get to us on Saturday morning and we struggled with the speed of play that HCS showed. We look forward to getting back to conference play and seeing how October plays out.”
